Always interesting to see lists by other people.

Here's my take on your top ten list for 1989:

1) Dekalog - Haven't seen this one.

2) Do the Right Thing - Saw it a long time ago. Pretty solid, but not on my list.

3) Crimes and Misdemeanors - One of Woody's better films. It's on my list.

4) The Killer - I liked it a lot the first time I saw it. Still solid, though not perfect. For an action film it's a must see though. It's on my list.

5) Kiki's Delivery Service - Haven't seen this one. Not too fond of anime, but some are good.

6) City of Sadness - Haven't seen it and hadn't heard of it before.

7) Black Rain - Haven't seen this one either, probably because it feels like a very heavy film. I need to be in the right mood to give it a chance.

8) Say Anything - Pretty solid 80's teen movie. Not my favorite, but still a good one.

9) Monsieur Hire - I originally had it on my top ten list, but it was later replaced. A good little film and top 15 for sure.

10) Sex, Lies and Videotape - Interesting Soderbergh film that I might not be crazy about, but worth a look or two for sure.

Nice list for sure and not very mainstream.

Some titles I'd like to mention that weren't on your list:
Casualties of War (Brian De Palma)
Interrogation (Ryszard Bugajski)
Talvisota (Pekka Parikka)
When Harry Met Sally... (Rob Reiner)
The Abyss (James Cameron)
Back to the Future Part II (Robert Zemeckis)
Glory (Edward Zwick)
Field of Dreams (Phil Alden Robinson)

All my posted top ten lists so far can be found here:

I've done 2015-1960, but we'll see how far back I'll go.
